I have spent the last 15 years systematically washing my education over the stones that I found outside the door of art school. The experience has created beautiful questions, which I have often answered with images and more often than not with my own questions being added to the pile. My work can be completed with one click of a shutter or drawn out and filled in with what keeps me going as an artist: expression of ideas that propel me forward. The ideas are diverse and often funny or dark, sometimes both. Visually, subjects tend to cling to edges or walk off them creating what I like to call a mini-gestalt ride. Fun for art geeks of all ages - or one hopes.
I studied social anthropology and juvenile literature in central California before moving east to study photography in Boston, MA. I graduated from the New England School of Photography in 1994 with a major in portraiture and a minor in experimental color. Exhibiting my work in galleries and public venues in the US and abroad for the past 10 years has provided me with an experience not unlike hitchhiking to a hazy destination. My influences are many and might not correlate directly to my work but are those that I can't imagine living without. Robert Frank, Nick Bantok, Josephine Boles (my Grandmother), Joseph Cornell and Tom Waits are among my most beloved and influential creative minds.
If you are interested in any of the work on this site, have an idea for commissioned work or simply want to discuss art, the creative process and the like please feel free to contact me.
